Finding something new in my corner of the world is always a pleasure. And today's urban walk showed me plenty: murals and sculptures and graduates, oh my; plus the always favorite Blue Bridge, and spinning pinwheels at St Mark's.
Here's to exploring what's right in front of you.
The "Blue Bridge" is always fascinating to me. I walked across it as a kid(when trains were using it). It was a railway bridge. I would walk the rails or the ties and look directly down into the waters of the grand. Hoboes used to live under each of the bridges crossing the river. It is much more pleasant to walk next to and across the river today. Back then, raw sewage (including waste from the foundries) made the area around the river have a putrid smell.
ReplyDeleteI love your knowledge of Grand Rapids history, Harry! Thanks!
