Covered Bridge Park, 7490 Thornapple River Dr SE, Ada ~ August 2026

It took about a year but the park opened in August of 2026. The old Leonard ball field has been completely transformed. Here are a couple photos of the flooded Leonard field that usually occurred annually 😊 The field was established sometime in the 1940s and was a community hub.
Here is the current playground with plenty of seating nearby.
There's a splash pad with very fun water features.
A picnic pavilion is adjacent to that and there are two pickle ball courts.
A little dog park is tucked in a corner of the park.
Near the covered bridge, steps lead down to the river.
The 125 foot historic replica bridge was built in 1867 and converted to a pedestrian-only bridge in 1930. It was destroyed in a fire in 1979 and rebuilt in 1980.
Walk across the bridge that spans the Thornapple River and you'll find additional seating with river views and the new Veterans Memorial.
Earlier this summer a new pedestrian bridge opened on the other side of Thornapple River Drive and a crossing was added to connect with Covered Bridge Park. The bridge is a beautiful addition.
Besides being a connector, the bridge offers nice views of the river.
Well done, Ada Township!
