Burnips, Michigan, and Gorby Sunflowers ~ August 2025

Two years in a row we've driven past this old store in Burnips on our way to the Gorby Sunflower Farm, 2426 30th Street, Allegan.
This year we stopped for more Burnips photos and a little research. The old Teed's store was previously Adam Newell's Pharmacy and Newell bought the property from Luther Perrigo in 1887. That's as far as we got. The store is still stuffed with goods.
Here are a few more things we found in this tiny town.
It was then on to the family-run sunflower fields. The first photos are from 2024.
We went a little earlier in 2025 and the fields were spectacular!
Don't miss these sunflowers next August and check out the old Teed's store on your way while the building is still standing 😊

  1. Burnips is pretty great, seeing the old hudsonville ice cream factory still standing across from the dog wash that used to be Kermit's. The restaurant bunker hill chill and grill then having the old memory of porkies there on 30th St still standing. Great little two. If u wanna learn some history

  2. Bunker Hill closed this year. The owners retired and last I knew they couldn’t find a buyer, unless someone bought it in the past few months. I haven’t been out that way since June.

    1. It sold on 9/2/25. Last I heard it was Peppinos who bought it.
