Al Exoo Memorial Musicians' Gala ~ April 13, 2025

This was a fantastic afternoon of music! RH Bear Berends organized the concert in memory of his friend, musician Al Exoo, with the proceeds going to the local non-profit, Grand Rapids Neighbors For Neighbors. It was held at the Sound Check venue located at Lowell United Methodist Church.

Six bands took turns performing and they played for more than three hours.

The talent packed into this room was incredible.

Bear started things off remembering his friend, Al, and introducing Patrick Bishop from Grand Rapids Neighbors For Neighbors.

It was a moving and joyful memorial 💗

If you're sorry you missed it, all of it was recorded live and can be viewed here.

Summer in the City - 2012

I like to take a walk during my lunch hour and it usually takes me down Monroe Center to Rosa Parks Circle, and back. You may run into Mayor Heartwell eating lunch,

or you may see fly fishing lessons in the Circle.

Everyone who's protesting anything makes an appearance, along with street musicians, artists, and the few food vendors the City of Grand Rapids allows.

A high-flying drone -

and the ever-present, hardest-working artist in Grand Rapids, Beverly.

Enjoy your Grand Rapids, even better on the weekends!
